Step 1: Incubate the seeds
The seeds should be soaked in warm water at 25 to 30℃ for about 7 days in advance, and then sown after the seeds become white.
Okra is suitable for planting in loam or sandy loam with deep, loose and fertile soil and good drainage. Before planting, it is necessary to dig the soil deeply and apply enough base fertilizer, mainly organic fertilizer.
Generally using the method of live broadcasting, you can dig 2-3 cm deep holes in the plot surface, put 2-3 seeds in each hole, plant the soil after and pour water. You can also grow seedlings indoors first, and then transplant them outdoors when the seedlings are strong.
- After okra emerges, it is necessary to carry out tillage and weeding in time to prevent weeds from competing with them for nutrients. Tillage should be carried out once after each fertilization to prevent the soil compaction affecting the growth of okra. If the planting density is high, the bottom lateral branches can be cut off appropriately in the later stage. Okra fruit grows quickly during the season, and if there are more storms in the area, bamboo poles can be planted to prevent lodging.
- Can be harvested after 1.5 - 2 months
